This was written as a personal project to practice article-style writing, which was a new frontier for me at the time. It’s a dense article with a semi-formal writing style and filled to the brim with hyperlinks, and is a good example of what you can expect to find more of on my blog posts. When writing this, I learned a lot about what goes into writing about media. My passion was there, but I learned to gracefully explain, analyze, and critique what I love to give the reader a well-rounded reading experience.
This was written as a response to the Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, which was a new text to me at the time. It filled me with a whirlwind of emotions, and I chose a topic to analyze within the text that resonated me during reading and discussing. When writing this, I took complete care to adhere to MLA formatting, and to take real examples from the text and dive deep to create a comprehensive analysis that didn’t skimp on details.
